ALIA GaSP Committee definition of a government or special library

A government or special library is a library that provides specialised information resources on a particular subject, serves a specialised and limited clientele, and delivers specialised services to that clientele. Special library professionals manage information and/or knowledge resources for the organisations for whom they work, and their stakeholders; including business executives, government departments and agencies, association members, non-profit funders and lawyers.
